Jesus commanded his disciples, most of whom were from modest financial means, to serve the poor and those alienated by mainstream society. We are committed to living out our faith through the discipline of regular service and interaction with the poor and those alienated by society today.
The Gathering is searching for a group of about 10 volunteers to assist with the Kingdom House Christmas Gift Shop. We are needed for one evening, either December 16, 17, or 18 from 5-7 pm, to sort items and stock the Gift Shop. If you are interested, please email Victoria Kennerly.
The Gathering, in collaboration with Kingdom House, will be organizing a Christmas gift drive this year. We will have a Christmas tree in the church, adorned with paper ornaments, each of which describes a unique item or gift. You can browse the ornaments; take one home, and return with a gift for a child or family in need. Please consider participating in this wonderful ministry.
CARES Outreach provides sanctuary to homeless persons in the Downtown area. In addition to a place to rest during the day and access to basic human services, Centenary serves lunch Monday through Friday and dinner Sunday through Thursday. Volunteers are needed primarily to serve meals, but also for other special projects that may arise from time to time. The Gathering has committed to providing volunteers every third Sunday to serve dinner at CARES from 4:30–6:30 pm and every second Monday from 4:30–6:30 pm. Please plan now to offer your gift of time and show your faith through your works. For more information about serving at CARES, please contact Anne O’Donnell.
