Serve during COVID-19
Ways to Serve During the Coronavirus Pandemic
It’s easy to feel helpless right now…unsure of how to help or what’s even safe to do. The good news is that there are still ways to model Christ’s love in our community, even while at home.
Here are just a few suggestions. We will continue to update this list as the situation evolves and new needs arise, so please check back often!
The Gathering is deeply invested in supporting education in St. Louis through The Literacy Project. To support our TLP students and students across the region, we’re focusing on the following.
Meals for Kids
Right now, the best way to help is through monetary and food donations to Operation Food Search and the St. Louis Area Foodbank to support families who need meals. There are also a few opportunities for volunteers.
School districts are working to provide access to technology and WiFi for all students. If you or your company have wireless hotspots or other equipment you’d be willing to donate, contact Beth McClure.
PPE for STL is working to find donations to combat shortages of critical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers. If you have masks or other items, they will get them to the right place. They also need help reaching out to find more PPE, which you can do from home! And, if you have basic sewing skills, check out the Greater St. Louis One Million Mask Drive.
Consolidated Community Response
The St. Louis Community Foundation, along with a coalition of philanthropic and chamber organizations, has created the COVID-19 Regional Response Fund to direct resources to regional nonprofits working with local communities disproportionately affected by the coronavirus crisis and its economic fallout.
