Advent Devotional Day 1

Sunday, November 27th

As you do all this, you know what time it is. The hour has already come for you to wake up from your sleep. Now our salvation is nearer than when we first had faith. The night is almost over, and the day is near. So let’s get rid of the actions that belong to the darkness and put on the weapons of light. Let’s behave appropriately as people who live in the day, not in partying and getting drunk, not in sleeping around and obscene behavior, not in fighting and obsession. Instead, dress yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ, and don’t plan to indulge your selfish desires.
- Romans 13:11-14

Reflection:
“You know what time it is…” We find ourselves back in the season of advent. Has the year traveled by in a blur? Can you separate your days from nights since the last season of advent? Each day is God’s gift, and it is all we get for the hard work of staying alive. Can you hope for the baby to be born in a manager, the child promised to change the world, whose very name is God with Us, Emmanuel? During the next few weeks of Advent, try to seek the light shining bright in preparation for the coming Christ child.  The story is not new, and you know what time it is.

Prayer:
God who wants to be with me, may I enter this Advent season hoping for you to change my life. Help me to believe that I can still be changed.
