While we may not be worshiping in person yet, a lot is happening around The Gathering. I wanted to share a few highlights.
Pastors Adam Baker and Charity Goodwin have officially joined our staff. Last weekend, they both spoke as part of the sermon. If you missed it, I urge you to check it out here. Both of them are beginning to connect with people in the congregation and are getting to know the Webster and Clayton sites respectively. They want to hear from you so reach out and send Adam or Charity a note.
Last week I announced that The Gathering will be worshiping online at least through Labor Day weekend. Other ministries like NEXT, CoreGroups and service opportunities will continue in person as long as it is safe to do so. We will be planning other events like parking lot worship nights to help all of us stay connected. You can read my full announcement from last week here.
This weekend I will be finishing my series Be Yourself. I have been talking about Identity – who we are, where we go wrong, and how we get back to who God created us to be. This weekend I will talk about “calling”. If you have ever wondered what you are supposed to do with your life, or how to figure out what you are called to do, this is a great message to catch. I also believe it is relevant to a lot of people in our lives right now, whether they go to church or not. I hope you will invite someone to join you for online worship this weekend.
Don’t forget, if you have been listening online, please let me know! If you are new or have never done it, text your name to this number (314)451-2090. It will let me know you are worshiping with us and I will send you back a few simple ways to connect further if you are interested.
Lastly, I want to thank all of you who have started or continued to give financially to The Gathering. While we may not be meeting in person for worship, the ministry of the church is continuing to grow and develop. We are finding new ways to serve, improving our digital infrastructure, and reimagining how we can better do ministry with adults, students and kids in an online environment. Your giving is fueling this development. We believe God is calling us to play an important role in a disorienting season of life. Your giving is allowing us to thrive and not merely survive. If you have not yet given online or you want to set up recurring giving, you can find ways to do that here.
I hope you all enjoy your weekend. I will see you all online this Sunday!
