Here is a list of all the ways you can connect and participate in ministry at The Gathering during this time of social distancing:
NEW THIS WEEK
Plans for the rest of the summer: We will continue to worship online only at least through Labor Day weekend. We will still encourage CoreGroups and other smaller group ministries to meet in person. This decision was made with input from an advisory board of leaders in our congregation, our church board (ELT), staff and other leaders. We took into account the science around the virus, our ability to live out our mission and vision, and stewardship of our resources.
We are working hard to continue an online worship experience that is compelling, engaging and authentic to The Gathering. We still have high engagement with online worship and a lot of new people connecting with our church each week through it. While worship will be online, other ministry will take place in person in our buildings as long as it is safe to do so. Baptisms, weddings, connection events like NEXT, discipleship classes, and parking lot worship nights will all be happening in person (with online options to participate).CoreGroups are encouraged to meet in person (following safety protocols) if they are comfortable doing so. This combination of in person ministry, and online worship will help with that “digital fatigue” many of us experienced earlier in the spring. Finally, we are going to look for even more ways that our church can serve others, a better use of our time and resources.
Worship Times: We have four scheduled worship times to choose from. In addition to livestreaming our full service at 9 and 10:45am complete with the pregame countdown, we added two new (shorter) services at 8am and 8pm. (We will no longer offer a 5pm service online). All 4 services will have a live chat for you to participate in, via Facebook Live or YouTube. You can also download our app or stream on compatible AppleTV or Roku.
Remember, if you miss worship on Sunday, you can always catch the service on-demand, at your convenience, at The Gathering Online or our app.
Connect: If you’re new, we’d love to meet you! Simply text YOUR NAME to (314) 451-2090, and we’ll be sure to text back quickly to introduce ourselves and share some helpful links.
Also, be sure to download The Gathering App to stay connected to the life of the church.
Giving: Your generosity is critical to our ministry during this time. We are so appreciative to all of you that have started or increased giving so that our ministry can continue to offer hope and connection to people. If you haven’t done it, we encourage you to automate your monthly or weekly giving online or through automatic bill pay. You can also give anytime online to support The Gathering. If you have questions about how to give online, you can watch a tutorial here.
Gathering Kids: Our second Operation Summer Fun is Saturday, June 27 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Drive through the McC parking lot to grab a bag of some Summer activity goodies and wave to our Kids leaders – you don’t even have to get out of the car! All of our content is now on our app. Every Sunday, we invite Gathering Kids to participate in Pajama Church. There are separate experiences for kids Pre-K or younger (“Littles”) and the Elementary age (“Bigs”). You can find links to both on our website or app.
Gathering Students: Just because the trip was cancelled doesn’t mean the mission was too. Join us from Sunday, July 19th, to Friday, July 24th for our Live the Mission Summer Experience 2020. Each day we’ll have short videos, daily devotions, at-home and around-our-city projects, fun games, and more that can all be done from home or at a responsible distance with friends. It’s completely FREE, but you do have to register at the link here.
Prayer and Care: If you are struggling in any way, or need to talk to someone, or know of anyone who is, please visit our Care page to seek assistance.
CoreGroups: If you aren’t in a CoreGroup (small groups that meet throughout the week), now is a great time to jump in. On June 28 all groups will start one of our summer studies. New groups are forming or you can start your own. Join a group here or contact Denee Bowers for more information.
