Witnessing Whiteness

This session of Witnessing Whiteness is full, we are unable to accept registrations at this time.

Witnessing Whiteness is a 10-week class sponsored by the YWCA and facilitated by trained volunteers. The work of Witnessing Whiteness groups draws on the book Witnessing Whiteness: The Need to Talk About Race and How to Do It, by Shelly Tochluk. The book has 9 chapters and while group sessions draw on the book, the work is about participants’ own lives, not textual analysis. During group meetings, participants consider their own lives in light of what they are learning through individual reflection as well as exercises that occur in pairs, triads, & the entire group.

The group will start on Tuesday, August 28 and will meet from 6:00pm-8:00pm at The McCausland Site. The group will always meet from 6:00 — 8:00pm. You must commit to attend at least 8/10 sessions. The dates for the additional 9 meetings are as follows:

Sept 4                                 Nov 6

Sept 18                               Nov 13

Oct 2                                  Nov 27
