2 Special Reasons to Come to Church This Sunday // M-Note 6.12.2026

This Sunday is going to be a special one at The Gathering for two reasons.

First, we will be welcoming Ezequiel Nhantumbo and his wife Celia all the way from Mozambique! Ezy has been our Mozambique Initiative Representative since the inception of our partnership. He has hosted many teams from The Gathering (and all over Missouri) over his over 20 year span in this role. He is the main link between our church and the United Methodist Church in Mozambique. Ezy oversees much of the work that we do together to dig wells for clean water and the building of the new Women’s Health Clinic.

Just as he so often welcomes our teams to Mozambique, we want to welcome him and his wife to The Gathering. This weekend, Ezy and Celia will share words of greeting at our McCausland site and it will be live streamed to all of our sites. I hope you will be at worship to hear Ezy and support our partnership with Mozambique.

Secondly, this Sunday will be special because we are having a preview worship service for our West County site. We will be saying thank you and celebrating Pastor Ryan Hebel as well as welcoming and meeting our new West County Site Pastor Roxy DeLong. Worship will be at 10am at The Reverie in Chesterfield. If you are curious about the West County Site, know someone in the area, or have been wanting to check it out, this is the perfect Sunday to come and invite someone else to come with you. Roxy is looking forward to connecting with those that are excited for The Gathering’s presence out west.

This weekend we will continue our series Make it Make Cents as we reframe common money myths through the lens of faith. In September, we will be launching a new Faith and Finances class. This group is designed for those that are struggling with finances all the way to those who want to be more intentional about financial planning in their life. Professionals from the congregation will be leading the class and it is an incredible opportunity to look more deliberately at your finances through the lens of your faith. The details as well as the sign up can be found here.

The momentum and energy has been incredible at our church this spring. Let’s continue that energy into the summer. I can’t wait to see you in worship this Sunday!

Peace,

Matt

P.S. -  Many of you responded to my call for volunteers for Respite Night, an evening for kids with disabilities in our church. The last respite night was an overwhelming success with nearly 50 kids and 100 volunteers. Word spreads fast and we are hosting another Respite Night on July 10th at 5:30pm. In order to serve the most families we can, we need at least 50 more volunteers. Whether you served last time, or were unable, THIS is your chance. Trust me, it is a couple hours that will change your life and impact the life of a family in our church. You can learn more and sign up here to volunteer.
