Spread the Word: Online Only Worship on January 25 // M-Note 1.24.2026

With the expected snow and bitter cold temperatures in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow, The Gathering is shifting all of our worship services online this weekend. We will not have in-person worship at any of our sites tomorrow. Instead, I hope you will make plans now to worship with me online this Sunday. You can worship with The Gathering online by subscribing to our YouTube Channel or going to right to the homepage of our website. Worship will be live starting at midnight, and I hope you will invite others to join you by sharing one of those links on social media. This is an easy, low stakes way for folks to check us out, and the message will be one that many need to hear.

I will be continuing our series Shift Happens: When Life Doesn't Go As Planned. Sometimes, I feel like I am doing everything God wants me to do and yet things are not working out in my life. I know you've experienced this as well. It is incredibly frustrating when you are being faithful, but doors are not opening for you. We will look at the story of Jeremiah, a guy who did everything right and yet felt abandoned by God. Jeremiah had this extraordinary ability to keep hoping and trusting in the face of setbacks. We will learn how we can deal with those seasons of setbacks or unanswered prayers in our own life. This is a really relevant lesson to so many people right now and, again, it is so easy to invite someone else to watch online.

Finally, The Gathering is in a growth phase and we are hiring several important positions at the church. From site pastor to administrative assistant, hospitality and worship leaders, we are looking for those who want to join our team. Our best staff members are those who love our church, believe in our mission, are eager to work hard to create compelling ministries, and have experience that aligns with what our community needs right now. Often those people come from the congregation or are their friends and contacts. I hope you will take a look at our open positions and share them with anyone that you think would be a good fit. You never know, that may even be you!

Please stay warm and safe this weekend, and I will see you online for worship. Please help us spread the word about online only worship and invite others!

Peace,

Matt

P.S. Thanks to all of you that have picked up a copy of my new revised and expanded deluxe version of The Methodist Book of Daily Prayer. It is a great way to start a daily prayer habit in the new year. You can pick up a copy at one of our sites or order it online. I would love it if those of you that have found it useful would leave a review. It is a great way to get the word out about this resource. Thank you!
