Game On – Week 5: Disposition of Joy

May 25, 2014    Rev. Matt Miofsky

How do we maintain a Disposition of Joy? Disposition is a choice. One of the characteristics of a new life is a disposition of joy rather than a disposition of anger. Be careful about anger lingering in your heart. Rejoice always. Maintain a posture of joy and thanksgiving by focusing on God and what He has done for us and is doing in us. Joy is rooted not in what we are experiencing now but in what God has promised to do for us in Jesus. We find a disposition of joy because we know how the story ends. Joy is the discipline in remembering the end of the story. God has secured for us a future. Rather than focusing on the circumstances of our life, we can fix our eyes on our faith. Joy is a feeling we don't have to wait for.
