In 2006, a group of mission-minded people, including Rev. Matt Miofsky, began to have conversations about how a new church might transform the city of St. Louis.
The Gathering name comes from the New Testament. Here, the Greek word for “church” is “ekklesia,” which literally means an assembly or gathering of people. We believe the church is a community of people committed to following Christ together.
Since its beginning, The Gathering has continued to see dramatic growth. Multiple sites, numerous worship services, a variety of small groups, a blossoming children’s ministry, and a commitment to serving our city and our world are just a few of the ways in which we are expanding our reach. We look forward to the future, and hope that you will be a part of our emerging history and what God is doing through our new community.
