Tornado Recovery Benefit Concert TONIGHT // M-Note 6.30.25

Since the tornado of May 16, many of you have volunteered and donated to help people affected by the storms. I also know that many more of you want to continue to help, especially as the initial round of volunteerism wanes. At The Gathering, we want to invest in serving our city, not just in the weeks after something happens, but in a sustained and committed way. Tonight, you have a simple chance to contribute to the ongoing tornado recovery in our city.

This evening, at 7pm at The Gathering McCausland site, we are hosting a concert whose proceeds will benefit the ongoing storm recovery efforts in our city. Organized by a professional musician and lay person in our congregation, Larry Pry, tonight’s concert will feature performances by Tony nominee Taylor Louderman, The Voice finalist Lisa Ramey, dramatic soprano Kelly Slawson, and the reunited cast of New Jewish Theatre’s acclaimed production of Into the Woods. Plus, you’ll see some familiar Gathering faces showing off their talents!

There will be people from all over the region attending tonight’s concert, and I hope that you will as well. It is going to be meaningful, moving, and a lot of fun – all while benefiting immensely those in our city who need it most.

Tickets are for sale and, while they are selling fast, there is still time to purchase one. You can learn more about the event and reserve a ticket here.

All of the money raised will go to Proceeds from the evening will go toward 4theVille’s efforts to rebuild the MLK corridor and Invest STL’s Northside Resilience Fund, both supporting North St. Louis City residents and neighborhoods impacted by the tornado. These are the next phase of the long-standing recovery efforts for 4theVille and Invest STL who, alongside Dream Builders 4 Equity, were on-the-ground supporting the community at the 4theVille Emergency Hub in the immediate three weeks after the storm.

We are grateful to Larry and all of the performers for this project and honored that they trusted The Gathering to host the event. By showing up, you not only will be making a difference in the lives of people recovering from the storm, but you can be part of our church opening its doors to many who have never been here before.

Serving is part of who we are as followers of Christ. It is our way of life, and takes all kinds of creative forms. Tonight, I hope you serve by joining me for a concert! Sometimes the best thing we can do is show up as a church, and open our doors for our city.

Peace,
Matt
