Scripture:
“The world is before you and you need not take it or leave it as it was when you came in.”
James Baldwin
Reflection:
The world is broken. Sin has separated us from God and one another. Communities are separated by fear and mistrust. We have the opportunity to be a participant in making it more like the world God intended. We shouldn’t be living in a world where Black men are 2.5 more likely to be killed by police or where only 3 of 100 senators are Black and 52 of 435 members of the House of Representatives are Black. Victims of police brutality like George Floyd and Eric Garner should be living their full lives, not being memorialized as a hashtag and rallying cry. And,we are allowed to be angry. Anger can be a great motivator to action as we feel upset that the world isn’t the way it’s supposed to be yet. What about the world today has you angry?
