Day 19

Abandoning Anxiety

Day 19
Thursday, December 16

“Don’t be anxious about anything; rather, bring up all of your requests to God in your prayers and petitions, along with giving thanks.”

Philippians 4:6

Reflection
Don’t be anxious? Easier said than done! It is important to note that the Bible isn’t referring to clinical anxiety. We are talking about the type of self-imposed anxiety that comes from worrying, specifically about the future. When I worry, I am sacrificing my current metal welding to fears about the future. When I turn over these fears to God, I am Turing over the outcome to God as well. When I trust God, I am not demanding specific outcomes, I am allowing God to resolve a situation as he sees fit. When I allow God to handle a situation, I then have energy to focus on the countless reasons I have to be grateful.

Prayer
Heavenly father, please take my worry and anxiety, I trust you. All the resentments and fears I give to you. Thank you for the abundance of blessings you have surrounded me with. Amen.
