God is Moving at The Gathering // M-Note 10.7.22

Sometimes in life we get so busy with what we have to do that we neglect to celebrate what we have already done! The same is true in the church. Sunday comes every week, and there is always something new to do. But, it is important to stop and remember what God has done and is doing through our church.

Last weekend, The Gathering’s Webster site launched a second worship service because of continued growth in people attending. It was an exciting day, and the site set a record for the number of people in worship. Every time we take a risk to start something new, it means a new opportunity to invite a friend or neighbor. The Webster site now worships at 9:30 and 11am with kid’s ministry at both times, so if you have never been it is a great time to check it out.

Earlier this week, The Gathering announced a new conference called Beyond. There are a growing number of progressive evangelical churches that want to collaborate and learn how they can better reach new people. This has long been a strength of The Gathering. As part of our OPEN vision, we want to take a leadership role in connecting, resourcing, and supporting a network of inclusive churches that want to reach new people. This conference is a first step towards that work, and it is exciting. Beyond will take place at The Gathering’s McCausland site Feb. 27-28, and you learn more about it here.

Lastly, I want to celebrate those of you who are beginning a CoreGroup through the recent Jumpstart opportunity. I had a chance to drop in on one of these groups recently, and it is incredible to see so many new people taking a step to grow in their faith and connect with each other. If you aren’t yet in a CoreGroup, it isn’t too late. You can check out new groups and sign up on The Gathering app or online.

God is definitely moving at The Gathering. There is a sense of a new season on the horizon for our church, and I am energized about it. If it has been a while since you’ve been, join us this weekend. And don’t forget that there is someone in your life just waiting for an invitation to something new. Ask them to join you. Have a great weekend, and I will see you Sunday.

Peace,
 Matt

P.S. This weekend, we will continue our series on the book of Proverbs, Words to Live By. We will be talking about friendship. Many of us struggle with the state of our friendships and want to figure out how to have more meaningful relationships. Proverbs has a lot of wisdom to share about how to (and not to) approach friends, and we will talk all about it.
